Jr Fair Board

The main purpose of the Junior Fair Board is the training and development of young people in the areas of leadership, community organization and fair operation; to develop an association of youth from the general community of the Tulare County Fair in helping to augment Fair awareness throughout the County.

Fundraising

Each year the Junior Fair Board organizes and facilitates fundraisers to help with the cost of such items as livestock awards, scholarships and participates in many community services activities such as planning, preparation, promotion and presentation of the Tulare County Fair and Junior Fair Board activities.

SCHOLARSHIP

The Junior Fair Board provides scholarships to outstanding members who participate in activities and events relating to the Tulare County Fairgrounds. To assist in academic and personal advancement, the Junior Fair Board will provide scholarship opportunities (funds permitting) to qualified applicants.

INVOLVEMENT

Junior Fair Board members duties will include providing outreach in member’s communities and schools as well as providing input to fair staff and leadership as to what their age groups would like to see at the fair and in event center activities. The Junior Fair Board’s efforts will also include support of year-round activities as well as pre- and post-Fair activities, department set-up, market animal weigh-ins, fair and marketing activities.

CRITERIA

Open to all youth 14 to 19 years of age, as of January 1st of the year of application.

Must live in Tulare County, have, and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above during the board year. Members cannot show more than two species of animals. Attend all Junior Fair Board meetings. Junior Fair Board is a two-year board term then members must reapply.
