Tulare County Fair Announces Special Day for Veterans
TULARE – Veterans will be honored and able to learn about services available to them during a first-time Veterans Appreciation Day at the Tulare County Fair, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Local quilters are creating quilts to be presented to veterans on stage at noon on Veterans Appreciation Day. To nominate a veteran to receive a custom-designed quilt, visit www.tcfair.org. The nomination is due by Sept. 1.
Quilters are encouraged to participate, and to provide a 60-inch by 80-inch quilt for presentation. The selected veterans will also receive a quilt-carrier drawstring bag, made by local 4H students.
Community organizations that serve veterans and seniors are invited to have a free informational booth on Veterans Appreciation Day. The vendor application form is online at tcfair.org. Applications are due by Aug. 1.
