Tulare County Fair Announces Kellie Pickler in Concert

TULARE – The Tulare County Fair has announced its final entry in the headliner concert series – country music darling Kellie Pickler, performing on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Pickler became known when she made it to the final six on American Idol, followed by her first album, which debuted at number one. She garnered new attention on Dancing with the Stars and has enjoyed three top 20 hits, including “Red High Heels,” “The Best Days of Your Life,” and “I Wonder.”

“This is going to be a huge concert,” noted Pamela Fyock, CEO of the Tulare County Fair. “The news has begun to leak out and people are very excited. She puts on a great show, and thanks to our sponsors, the only cost to the fair-goer is gate admission.”

The Budweiser concert series opens with Paul Rodriguez on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and features classic rockers Foghat on Friday, Sept. 18; R&B favorites Rose Royce on Saturday, Sept. 19; and “hillbilly rock” Grammy winner Marty Stuart with Aubrie Sellers on Sunday, Sept. 20.

All concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are free with paid gate admission. In addition, Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band Fortunate Son performs Wednesday and Friday; ZZ Top tribute band Fandango performs Thursday and Saturday. Both perform two shows each evening.

Fair admission is $8 for adults; $5 for children ages 6-12. Seniors 62 and older are admitted for $6 on Senior Day, Thursday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Humana, Inc. Military Appreciation Day is also Thursday, with $6 admission for active duty military with ID card from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will offer live local entertainers; new food booths; a three-night Motor Sports spectacular, fun rides, including a huge new roller coaster; a carnival area just for young children, and more. Carnival wristbands are available for $20 in advance of the fair or $30 after Sept. 15. Visit for ongoing updates to the schedule of events or call the fairgrounds office at 686-4707.
