Fair offers prize to top carnival wristband sellers

TULARE – The Tulare County Fair will award two 50-inch televisions to top sellers of carnival wristbands.

For every $75 in wristband tickets sold, the seller’s name will be entered in the give-away. The two winners will be announced during the WAR concert on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Local civic clubs, youth organizations and churches can pre-sell Tulare County Fair carnival wristbands to raise funds for their activities, while supporting the fair.

The wristbands provide an all-access, one-day pass to the carnival and Kiddie Land. Organizations earn $1.50 per wristband sold. For information, call the Tulare County Fairgrounds, 686-4707, or sign up for the program at the fairgrounds office, located in the Foundation Club, 620 K St.

The wristbands sell for $20 each in advance and $30 during Fair week.

Application forms are due Aug. 26 for artists, bakers, photographers and more to enter their artwork for display at the fair. A processing fee of $5 per exhibitor will be charged for online entries; the fee for hand-delivered entries is $10. The fees help offset the cost of providing displays for the enjoyment of fairgoers.

The Tulare County Fair will run Sept. 14-18, offering a week of entertainment free with gate admission including Gin Blossoms on opening night; WAR on Thursday, Sept. 15; Colt Ford on Friday, Sept. 16; En Vogue on Saturday, Sept. 17; and Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters on Sunday, Sept. 18.
