Tulare County Fair seeks corn dog lovers and speedy crawlers
TULARE – Corn dog lovers are invited to register early for the corn dog-eating contest at the Tulare County Fair, and compete to win a cash prize.
The entry fee is $10 in advance or $15 after Sept. 14. Rules for all contests are available on the www.tcfair.org website. The 8-minute corn dog-eating contest, sponsored by Milo’s Corn Dogs, will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. Semi-professionals, amateur eaters and fairgoers who love corndogs will compete for $500 in prize money. All participants will receive a ribbon.
The fair, Sept. 16-20, will also offer a diaper derby contest with bragging rights and ribbons. The fair’s smallest competitors are encouraged to join the diaper derby, to be held at noon on Sunday, Sept. 20. Advance registration is suggested but not required.
The Fair is also looking for talented kids to compete in the Kids’ Talent Showcase.
Preliminaries will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. Twelve finalists will be chosen to move on to the Kids’ Talent Showcase. Finals will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. Contestants must be 14 or younger and accompanied by a parent or guardian. All contestants will receive a participant ribbon; the top three winners will receive cash and gifts. Music must be on a CD and no longer than two minutes. Contestants will be judged according to appearance, composure, talent and overall performance. The Tulare County Fair this year is offering new free-with-admission exhibits, including acrobats and a fun science exhibit, free musical entertainment, Buttercup the Cow will return and the carnival will feature new rides.
